It's been too long.

Similar to my old AM radio show, i doubt if anyone in the galaxy is receiving my transmissions. As the middle of summer is upon us, i can't but help think about summer music festivals. I have only been to 1 so far this year but that's no real loss as i'm broke as a joke. Most festivals suck dick anyway cause you wind up paying like a hundred bucks to see 40 bands, of which you really only want to see 6 and the rest you could really give a fuck about. Maybe it's the summer heat, my influx of alcohol and drug consumption or the fact that i'm watching the woodstock DVD cause it's on IFC but i think i have to talk about some great psychedelic albums i recently purchased.

AORTA - Like taking a hit of sunshine acid while chiling with Shamans in south america with kaleidoscopes superglued on your eyes, this album is trippy as fuck. This album has four intro/interlude/outros which are called Main Vein(I-IV). The album cover sorta makes me think about all those mornings eating chicken fried steak after doing bumps all night and fucking til daybreak. You have a heart take care of it. I picked up this album after hearing the single, Strange, and upon hearing that track pondered "What fucking analog instruments were these nutty fuckers using to make that sound?" Pretty much a mind blowing experience and made me think about how if I was around back then i would have undoubtedly gone done a similar path to Syd Barrett(R.I.P). Speaking of which, i thought he was dead years ago but guess not. Other good tracks worh a listen are "Thoughts and Feelings", which consists of an intro of a baby screaming and begs the question "What the hell did you long haired freaks do to this baby during your sessions". Epic album that is pretty easy to find thanks to it's reprinting.

Speaking of rereleases :

Beyond the Wizards Sleeve - Self titled and Spring EP's - Released on the new 3rd Mynd records label, this album of re-edits, and rereleases is another gem. Apparently, this is affliated with Trash's resident DJ, Erol Alkan, who is seriously the man right now. Not only does this uber-hip player put out remixes for the likes of Justice, Franz Fernidick, Hot Chip, and DFA1979 but he also has enough time to put out these EP's of crazy rare pyschedelic tracks. These EP's include hungarian psych tracks from the 60's and all that hard to find shit that us normal people (who don't have 6000 hours to dig through cruddy dusty old record stores) want to listen to. These EP's can be found on Rough trades website or hopefully your local record store, if it's cool enough. I highly recommend these if you wanna get stoned. Check out their site on myspace.

Acid house is bastard red haired stepchild to Psyche music.

Kid 606 - Pretty Girls make raves - What a clever title. Not really true drugs make raves but....Actually, pretty girls do make raves if you're lucky enough to be on E and get to make out with them when you're like 16 and it's 1996. The 303 basslines on this album will make your head vibrate like a dildo in a washing machine during an earthquake while you're going into cardiac arrest. The 8 tracks of pure acid house will make you go wanna candy flip with those weird furry patns jap kids in Toyko. Anyway....here is a sample again on that damn website, so take a listen.

Well, that's pretty much all i got to say for now. Watch for my upcoming illegal podcasts and reviews of some unnamed LA shows. Take care and remember not to eat the red rope licorice.
